How was Richard Martin awarded the Noble Prize?

German organic chemist Richard Martin Willstätter was born on August 13, 1872, and he won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1915 for his research on the structure of plant pigments, including chlorophyll. Following Mikhail Tsvet’s initial description of the separation method, Willstätter invented paper chromatography.
