How was Ernest Rutherford awarded the Noble Prize?

The father of nuclear physics, Ernest Rutherford, 1st Baron Rutherford of Nelson, was a New Zealander and physicist. He won the Noble Prize in 1908. for his Work “for his investigations into the disintegration of the elements, and the chemistry of radioactive substances”
